I am a teaching-focused academic in the Department of Psychology at Royal Holloway. After completing a PhD in psychology at the University of St Andrews, I worked in post-doctoral research positions at St Andrews, Durham and Sheffield universities, and then as a lecturer at the University of Liverpool and as an Associate Lecturer for the Open University. I have recently completed a Daphne Jackson Fellowship at RHUL, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), which has enabled me to return to an academic position after a break in my career.
Research
My research has explored the brain systems underlying memory, primarily through studies of patients with amnesia, and more recently has explored the effects of aging on eyewitness memory. In my current position, I am developing pedagogic research drawing on my memory research background to investigate ways to facilitate learning within a university setting.
Teaching
I teach on, and coordinate, undergraduate modules PS2040 Developmental Psychology, PS3194 Psychological Science Research Project and PS3061 The Aging Brain. I also contribute masters level teaching for PS4303/PS5303 Cognitive and Social Approaches to Forensic Investigations.
