John Mariampillai

Dr John Mariampillai is a Senior Lecturer in International Business and Strategy and joined Royal Holloway (School of Business and Management) in January 2024. John is an experienced academic, with industry experience in marketing and client relationship management. 

Prior to joining Royal Holloway, John worked for Roehampton University (Senior Lecturer, Strategy and International Management). He has extensive experience working in universities across the UK, including Buckinghamshire University (MBA Programme Director/ Senior Lecturer, Partnerships and Leadership), Northumbria University, London (Senior Lecturer, Strategy) and Plymouth Marjon University.

John completed his PhD in internationalisation and HE policy in 2014 (UWL). John is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Certified Management and Business Educator (Chartered Association of Business Schools). John is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK and a certified Member of the Market Research Society, UK.

John’s research interests are in the areas of private-public partnerships and internationalisation, with a specific focus on the marketisation of higher education. His previous research and consultancy projects include Global Citizenship and Business Education (QR funding, as PI), Graduate Link to Develop New Enterprise (ERDF), Investigating, Developing and Providing Awareness of Innovative Lesson Syllabus Implemented in Cyber Security Technologies (Erasmus+ KA2, as partner institute member) and Strengthening of Internationalisation in B&H Higher Education (Erasmus +, as partner institute member/presenter).
