James is a PhD student at the Centre for Doctoral Training in Cybersecurity for the Everyday at Royal Holloway University of London. His PhD considers how autonomous political orders are affected by the introduction of digital technologies, with a central focus on Oaxaca, Mexico. He seeks to explore how connective infrastructures interact with existing socio-political cultures and wider political contexts, asking what these formations tell us about security. Prior to joining the CDT, James completed a BA in Politics and an MSc in Defence, Development and Diplomacy at Durham University with a focus on the ethics of Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems and their impacts on modern warfare.
