Dr Claire Li is a Lecturer in Accounting at Royal Holloway, University of London. Claire holds BBA (Hons), MSc and PhD in Accounting and Finance from Hong Kong and the UK. Before joining Royal Holloway, Claire was an Assistant Professor in Accounting at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. Claire also has worked as an auditor specialised in the Institutional Firms Services at PricewaterhouseCoopers Limited (PwC) in Hong Kong and as a management executive in sustainability accounting, internal control and risk management in a listed company in Hong Kong.

Claire teaches in the areas of financial accounting and reporting at Royal Holloway, University of London and has teaching experience in accounting theory and management accounting at other higher education institutions. 

Claire is a lead supervisor of several Doctor of Business Administration and Ph.D studentships in areas including: An investigation into the association between gold mining firms’ stock price, gold commodity price and environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. The impact of risk appetite on sustainability practices and performance evidenced by the financial services sector in South Africa. Along with supervision of Bachelor and MSc student research projects on sustainability accounting and reporting, ESG practices and performance, and sustainability finance. Claire also was an internal examiner of a PhD studentship in the area of exploring the drivers of voluntary ESG disclosure in Western European banks. Claire is now joint supervising one PhD student with Professor Christopher Napier on sustainability reporting.
