Charlotte joined the Department of Law and Criminology as a Lecturer in Law (Teaching Focussed) in September 2019. Prior to her appointment, she was a Teaching Associate at Queen Mary University of London, and a Graduate Teaching Assistant and then University Tutor at the University of Leicester.
Research interests
Charlotte holds a PhD in Law from the University of Leicester. Her thesis was on the subject of incitement to commit genocide, focussing on the jurisprudence from the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, and examining the challenges of multi-lingual and multi-cultural trials.
Her current research interests lie in the field of international criminal law, primarily the crime of genocide, and incitement to commit genocide. She is also interested in the related field of freedom of expression within the realm of human rights law.
Teaching
Charlotte teaches on a variety of modules on the LLB courses, including Criminal Law, English Legal System, Land Law, and Public International Law. She is the module lead for Equity and the law of Trusts and for International Criminal Law. Charlotte also undertakes dissertation supervision.
