Babette van Gerwen

Babette van Gerwen is a PhD researcher in the Department of Geography funded by the Social Purpose Centre for Doctoral Training. Her research explores human–nonhuman relations within citizen science practices of bats, trees, and worms, using performance as a speculative method for inhabiting and imagining alternative forms of more-than-human relation. Drawing on multispecies ethnography and practice-based research, she is interested in the lived and sensory experiences of monitoring practices, as well as attempts to encounter and inhabit different Umwelten.
