Personal profile
I am a Senior Lecturer of Economics at RHUL. Before assuming this position, I held the position of Lecturer in Economics at Newcastle University. Prior to my time at Newcastle University, I served as an Economist at the Monetary Policy Division in the Central Bank of Ireland. Before this, I worked at the Economic Analysis and Research Department at the Bank of Greece. I obtained my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Patras (Greece) and hold an MSc in Economics and Finance from Loughborough University.
My research interests primarily revolve around applied macroeconomics, monetary policy, time-series analysis, classical and Bayesian VARs, and macro-finance linkages.
I have worked on topics including the transmission of both conventional and unconventional monetary policy shocks, the connections between monetary policy and inequality, and the links between monetary policy, credit markets, asset price bubbles and global imbalances.
Currently, I continue to research these topics while broadening my research into other areas. Mainly, I am working on research in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), its drivers, and its influence on labour markets and the broader macroeconomy. I am also working on projects on the macroeconomic effects of extreme events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact of natural disasters, as well as the macroeconomic consequences of geopolitical risks, conflicts, and war episodes.
I have been a Fellow of the prestigious Higher Education Academy (HEA) since 2019. I have experience in successfully securing grants, along with consultancy experience, and I have presented my research work at numerous international conferences and workshops.
PhD Supervision opportunities
I welcome proposals from well-qualified prospective PhD candidates interested in conducting empirical research in macroeconomic topics.
