Alice is in the final year of her PhD in the Department of Geography focusing on housing financialisation and how this impacts our cities and those who live within them. Through the example of Purpose Built Student Accommodation in Dublin, Alice’s thesis contributes to, and advances, understandings of rental housing financialisation. The thesis contributes to two key bodies of work: the financialisation of housing, and student geographies. It is some of the first scholarship to date on the Irish student housing landscape.

Alice’s research involves primary and secondary research methods, including interviews, focus groups, observations, documentary analysis, and policy evaluation. Beyond this, Alice has previous experience of conducting mixed methods research, including conducting surveys.

Alice has experience of presenting at national and international conferences and has published her work in academic journals across the disciplines of geography, housing studies, and the social sciences.

Alice’s PhD is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and is in formal collaboration with the Dublin Housing Observatory at Dublin City Council.
