Abby received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Ghana, MBA from the Schulich School of Business, York University Canada and PhD from Aston University, UK.
Abby conducts research on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the accounting implications of the environmental and social impacts of the oil and gas and mining industries. She also investigates the geopolitical risk inherent in conducting business in Sub-Saharan Africa. She has provided consultancy services on these subjects for a number of oil and gas companies and international NGOs. She is particularly interested in how accounting skills can be harnessed for development in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Abby is the Geography subject editor for Social Sciences and Humanities, Open (Elsevier) and a member of the editorial board of The Extractive Industries and Society Journal (Elsevier Science).
Prior to her PhD education, Abby held roles as Internal Auditor, External Auditor, Health Counselor and Legal Assistant. She previously worked at Blake, Cassels and Graydon, LLP, UBS Wealth Management, Canada, SC Johnson Wax Ltd. and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).
