Royal Holloway is one of the world’s top research-intensive universities, ranked 15 in the UK for the overall quality of its research outputs (Times Higher Education, REF2021 outputs scores), with 88% of our research judged to be world-leading, or internationally excellent in the Research Excellence Framework 2021. Our research tackles real-world problems, seeking creative solutions to complex challenges, alleviating inequalities, and living sustainably in today’s inter-connected and digital world. We set new research agendas inspired by our commitment to equality, academic excellence, and social justice. Our Schools, Research Centres and Institutes nurture partnership-led research and highlight world-class research. Our research demonstrates strength in the following five areas: Climate and Biodiversity; Social Justice and Addressing Inequalities; Health and Wellbeing; Culture and Creativity, AI and New Technologies. Each of these themes bring together interdisciplinary teams from across the university to collaborate in innovative partnerships with a range of organisations, businesses and industries to make a positive difference in the world.
