XI Festival Internacional de Cine y Video de los Pueblos Indigenas

Description

I attended and participated in the principal Indigenous film festival for the Latin America region, held biannually. During the festival I assisted with translation and interpreting from French, English and Portuguese into Spanish and viceversa. In particular, I helped the Wapikoni Mobile Team (Quebec, Canada), Ray 'Bud' Kelly, an Australian Aboriginal cultural activist, and the Xavante filmmaker Divino Tserewahu communicate with their Hispanophone peers. I also delivered a paper “Creando espacios de reflexión y reconocimiento. La critica cinematográfica del lenguaje audiovisual del cine indígena” as part of the 'Encuentro Internacional de Cine y Comunicacion de Pueblos Indigenas', held in Bogota in parallel with the film festival, and helped with some logistics of the event.
