Track 4 - Digital Accountability, Sustainability, and Innovation

Track chairs
Dr Claire Li, University of Roehampton, UK
Dr Stavros Polykarpou, Royal Holloway, University of London, UK

Track description
As sustainability becomes a core expectation in corporate and public governance, digital innovation is transforming how organisations measure, report, and ensure accountability. This track explores the intersections between digital technologies, financial and non-financial accountability, and sustainability in both public and private sector contexts. We invite papers that investigate how digital infrastructures – from blockchain and cloud platforms to AI and data analytics – reshape the production, communication, and assurance of information that supports transparent and responsible decision-making. We particularly welcome interdisciplinary contributions that bridge disciplines, leveraging insights from accounting, information systems, digital innovation, sustainability, and public policy. This includes conceptual, empirical, design science, and practice-led research that addresses the challenges and opportunities of digital accountability in the evolving digital and sustainable economy.
