Safeguarding Adults at Risk of Discriminatory Abuse

Description

This session coincides with hate crime awareness week and covers the related safeguarding category of discriminatory abuse.  Those attending will gain a better understanding of the nature and definitions of discriminatory abuse and its overlaps with hate crime.  Key findings from Safeguarding Adult Reviews and research will be introduced and there will be a focus on the barriers to reporting and recognising this category of abuse.  Recent research on how safeguarding engages with people's protected characteristics will be shared and participants will reflect on how they can usethe information at this session to support their practice further.
