Description

The lecture begins with Lord Jim and its description of the training-ship incident in the Mersey. The lecture then outlined Conrad's life and family background before returning to Conrad's relations with Liverpool. The final parts of the lecture discussed Conrad's first novel, Almayer's Folly, an the Preface Conrad wrote for it; Conrad's fictions about Africa; and Liverpool's trade with West Africa.
