Inaugural Lecture: The Business of Business Ethics and the Ethics of Business.

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventParticipation in conference

Description

Is business the enemy, or the hero, of global progress? Are businesses the cause or the solution to global challenges, not least, social injustice, rampant climate change and extreme poverty? Is business ethics an oxymoron?
Laura J. Spence expands on her vision for how business ethics can help disentangle the role of business in society. To address this important question she takes inspiration from the likes of Aristotle, Immanuel Kant, Michel Foucault and Virginia Held, and draws on her wide-ranging research on ethics and corporate social responsibility in organisations as varied as Sainsbury’s, the International Olympic Committee, and in particular a multitude of small businesses.
