Does greater diversity amongst their study body make elite educational institutions less elitist? In this article for Discover Society, I draw on my masters research with teachers at a private school in England to argue that, far from making elite institutions more egalitarian, claims of 'diversity' can be used to assert their moral superiority and to maintain their role in the preservation of elite power and privilege.
