Grand Vespers and a Memorial Service to the distinguished Byzantinist Julian Chrysostomides (1928-2008), former Director of The Hellenic Institute, were officiated by Father Asterios, the local Greek Orthodox Parish priest, followed by a Memorial Lecture by Professor Evangelos Chrysos delivered in absentia by Dr Paris Papamichos Chronakis in the College Chapel on 12 October 2019. Organised by The Hellenic Institute, the event was attended by the College RC Chaplain Father John Dickson, and thirty current and former students, colleagues and Friends, several of whom travelled for this purpose from other cities in Britain, Greece and Cyprus. Donations towards the Julian Chrysostomides Memorial Bursary Fund in support of students pursuing Hellenic and Byzantine Studies at RHUL were received.
