'Considering Criminology: Historical & Contemporary Notions of ‘Punishment’': An HE Taster session at HMP/YOI Bronzefield women's prison

Activity: OtherPublic engagement, outreach and knowledge exchange - Public Lecture/debate/seminar

Description

This was an HE community outreach session which was freely available to residents and staff at HMP/YOI Bronzefield. The purpose of the talk was to offer a brief and informal introduction to studying criminology (specifically offering a critical lens through which to view the history of punishment). It was also designed to offer the residents an opportunity to see whether HE-level study was for them ahead of launching the application process for 'Pioneering Women' later in the year; a prison-university educational partnership initiative led by myself which brought together students from Royal Holloway and the prison to learn with and alongside each other.
