Workshop for MA Art-Writing at Goldsmiths.

This workshop will take an in-depth look at the way that metaphor, simile and analogy function to ‘move meaning’ and, in doing so, to generate new thought. Exploring the nuances of each through a close examination of examples from poetry, literature, film, visual art, performance and everyday life, we will evaluate the effect that these have on us through group discussion and a series of writing/making experiments. Our aim throughout this workshop will be to inhabit – perhaps perpetuate – the space of transition and potential that is opened in and through these poetic techniques.
