Description
We have conducted a structured review of 80 peer-reviewed scientific papers about candidate scales, rating them on psychometric and pragmatic standards. We then recommended a universal cognitive assessment for MS, which does not require specialist training or expertise, and are devising an international validation protocol. We plan to lead national validation projects in individual countries. I am leading on the development of the project website (www.BICAMS.net), which has an open access policy to facilitate access to information and data for health professionals outside of university clinics. Cognitive assessment for people with MS is only routinely available in specialist centres, in certain countries. The BICAMS project will greatly extend availability of cognitive assessment for people with MS; BICAMS will become a widespread, routine clinical evaluation and monitoring tool. In this way international clinical practise will be changed.
